Plantes d'hier et d'ailleurs, les grandes serres du Jardin des Plantes" 

Presentation followed by a dedication with:
InDario de Franceschi, paleobotanist, Department of Earth History, National Museum of Natural History, Eric Joly, director of the Jardin des Plantes; Larpin Denis, chief scientist of tropical collections of the National Museum of Natural History.

"PLANTES PLAISIRS PASSIONS  2011 "

 

Flavors, Fragrances honor. New exhibitors this year will be added to old for you to share their passion for plants. We will awaken our senses and we are carried away by the thousand and one scents and flavors of these gardens. To enhance the expression of this theme, a selection of 50 fragrant plants will be emphasized.

A visit to this magnificent setting is required : the lower court, stables, the English garden, the vegetable garden.

Frederic Pautz, Vice-President of CCVS, chronicling the early stages of its trip around the World "In the Footsteps of Bougainville", commemorating this year the bicentenary of the death of the famous French explorer and navigator, Louis Antoine de Bougainville (1729-1811). On return from the expedition of 1766, the botanist Philibert Commerson brought Brazil its discovery: the seductive 'Bougainvillea'. This beautiful shrub with bright colors made its debut in France in the most beautiful Mediterranean gardens and in our winter gardens. Another exotic arrived, too, in the garden of the King in Paris, the Hibiscus rosa sinensis, Louis Antoine de Bougainville did not fail to discover in the hair of Tahitians.
